Past Continents is the musical project of multidisciplinary artist Tim Reid. Began in early 2020 as a response to the sudden isolation due to the pandemic, the project has become a significant branch of his creative practice. Tim has a long musical history, learning the violin at 8 years old. As with his visual work, he uses music to explore topics such as cognitive dissonance, self-reflection, and grief.

My wife Marlenys died in September 2019 after a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. This had a transformative impact on my priorities, my worldview, and my art work. I use my creative practice to help understand grieving, and use my experience on this grief journey to inform my practice. Through this symbiotic relationship, I am better understanding how to live in the in-between. In the grey area. In the space that rarely has definitive answers. My hope is that my work connects with my audience and helps them to consider ways to restore balance to their own lives.
